NEW
YEARS HOPES
As we begin 2012, have you wondered about what the year might hold for you?
The past year brought a marriage, a lingering illness, an uncertain adoption and the addition of a couple
of children in our household. We prayed hard when it looked certain that our daughter would not find work,
and breathed a sigh of relief when a job came at the last minute. The year was an emotional roller-coaster,
but in the end we saw again the providential care of God through it all. The track may have been smoother
for you, or maybe you had higher drops and tighter corkscrew turns.
None of us knows what this year
will hold for us. It could be a time of increased stability for you, or it could be utter turmoil.
It might bring meaningful work, or the loss of a job and the anxiety of unemployment. Relationships
could be strengthened, or challenged by conflict. You might enjoy good health – and you might not.
One thing is certain: Life is not an accident waiting to happen. We have a God
who promises that whatever the year holds, he holds his people. (see Romans 8.18-39)
The
hope we have for any year isn’t anchored to forces we cannot control, nor to our self-effort. It’s
anchored to the faithfulness of God. Whatever your hopes for 2012, start by putting your hope in him.
Faith Reformed Church is a family of believers helping one another to do just that. We’d love
to get to know you this year.
